Howard M. Katzen's Obituary
HOWARD M. KATZEN passed away on July 31 at the age of 82 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of Philip and Gertrude Katzen and is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara Pallot, his loving children Lynn, Bruce (Diane) and David, and his four adoring grandchildren: David, Zach (Dana), Brynn, and Alli. Howard grew up on Miami Beach, a Typhoon ’52 forever, where he met his life long sweetheart. He graduated from the University of Miami (Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity) at the age of 19, married, and joined the family business, Norton Tire Company, a 70-year-old company, which he helped to grow to the largest independent tire dealer in the state. Howard along with his brothers in law Norton Pallot (Gloria) and Ronald Pallot (Gloria) ran the business. Norton Tire Company was sold in 1985 to Goodyear Tire Co. Howard retired to an active life with many hobbies: tennis (Royal Palm Tennis Club), flying, photography, traveling, fishing and boating (Ocean Reef Club, Coral Reef Club, Fisher Island Yacht Club, Commodore Matheson Hammock Yacht Club). He was the youngest Worshipful Master of Hibiscus Masonic Lodge. He was role model and friend to many. Howard’s finest role was as adored father and grandfather. He was a beloved member of the Pallot and Katzen families.
Pioneer member for 56 of Temple Beth Am and a member of Temple Judea, Greater Miami Jewish Federation, FIU-FLA Jewish Museum, and University of Miami Alumnae Association. Donations in his honor, in lieu of flowers made to: Temple Beth Am, Greater Miami Jewish Federation, or The Jewish Museum.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Temple Beth Am, 5950 N. Kendall Drive, Pinecrest, Florida 33156. Arrangements under the direction of Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert Memorial Chapel (305) 865-2353
