Dear Sara and Shawn,
Thinking of you today. May God continue giving you both strength and peace during this difficult time. We had the honor of meeting your beautiful family in HHH Band and we instantly became not only friends but family! Jon was not only a great teacher but a loving husband and father. He was also my son Jonathan's Math teacher and we will always be greatful for that, the knowledge and wisdom he shared with these kids will live forever! Thank you! He will be greatly missed.

OMG I didn't hear this until now. John was a great guy and a great teacher. I had the opportunity to sub for him many times when I was at Driftwood. I am so shocked and so sorry to hear this. The first time I officially met Jon was open house for my son Daniel. He introduced himself and said I'm Jon Burns I have a degree in biology so I will be your child's math teacher. A room full of confused parents looked back at him and he said "exactly" I knew then he would be a great teacher for my son. Jon was a man of few words but they were always on point and thought provoking. I will miss him. My prayers to Sara &Shawn you are in our hearts always.

My condolences to the love ones left behind. Mr. Burns was my Álgebra teacher. He was brilliant! We shared a love for cars, antiques to be exact. He owned the cutest ride of all. I asked him if he would one day sell or give it to me as it matched my "fashionista" style. With his soft voice he said " That car can't be sold, as it was a present from my brother, My son Shawn will keep it!"
Shawn you will look great as he did in his sweet ride. Today we celebrate his celestial homecoming and the legacy of his passion for education. Take comfort knowing that his memory and instruction lives in each and every one of his students. God comfort and bless you and your beautiful Mom.
