Marc Lipsitz's Obituary
LIPSITZ
Marc passed away on July 24th at the age of 72. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he spent his early childhood growing up in Knickerbocker Village in Manhattan’s Lower East Side and later in Forest Hills NY. He moved to Miami Beach as a teenager and attended Miami Beach Senior High for his senior year, graduating in 1958. Marc attended the University of Florida graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. While working as a CPA during the day at the accounting firm of Spear, Sheldon and Safer, he attended the University of Miami Law School at night. Marc worked at several large law firms including Friedman, Britton & Stettin and Camner & Lipsitz. He was also General Counsel for several banks including Southeast Bank and Jefferson National Bank. Throughout the legal community Marc was known for his integrity and dry sense of humor. Marc was an avid photographer which he practiced on many vacations across the US and the world. Beginning when his son Jonathan was 4, the family would go on long vacations out west. Adventures included a horse pack trip in the Colorado Rockies, a one week white water rafting adventure in Idaho, and a cross-country train ride. Marc travelled to all seven continents and chose Antarctica as the place he wanted to welcome in the new Millenium. His last trip was a transatlantic cruise in December of last year with more than 20 friends and family. Marc's health rapidly deteriorated during the past two years. But throughout it all, he always had a smile on his face and a good word for everyone. He is survived by his wife Nancy and son Jonathan. Donations may be made in Marc’s memory to Miami Jewish Health Systems Foundation for Memory Programs, 5200 NE 2nd Ave., Miami, FL 33137. Funeral services will take place on Sunday, July 28th at 2:00 pm at Levitt-Weinstein Beth David Memorial Gardens, 3201 N.W. 72nd Ave., Hollywood, Florida.
