As a snowbird, I was a winter "sub" in Marty's regular game on court 4 for over 12 years and got to know Marty over those years. We discussed boats and his life in the military and I was grateful for men like him from what Tom Brokaw called "the greatest generation" of WW II heroes. It was an honor to know him and to play with him... we will miss him.

I met Marty for the first time 3 years ago on a hot summer day on Court 4 at the North Miami Beach Tennis Center. As a newbie, Marty immediately made me feel welcome. As we got to know each other over the years we traded some great stores about out travels. NY cabs and snow skiing. We had some hearty laughs as Marty had this infectious enthusiasm for things.Thus occasionally we would speak on the phone for long periods of time swapping life stories. Of course tennis was his passion and I always enjoyed playing with him. I also know that Marty thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated his life and family. He knew he was blessed. I managed to make a few Wednesday lunches at Moes with Marty and friends which was always fun. I have missed his presence at the courts since he became ill. The world will sorely miss you - rest in peace Marty!

I met Marty for the first time as the new operator of the the North Miami Beach tennis Center when I apparently had incurred his wrath by giving someone else HIS court 4. "Do you know who I am? He bellowed" "No I don't I said....and furthermore I don't care!"
Well that's how Marty got to play on Court 4 Monday Wednesday and Friday's
We will continue to book the Senft Court to the friends he loved to play with and hope they remember his passion for playing as long as he could...Rest in peace Marty.
