Michael "Mickey" Edward Tessler's Obituary
Michael "Mickey" Edward Tessler
January 11, 1942- June 2, 2023
Mickey Tessler, 81, gently passed away on June 2, 2023, in Covina, California. In addition to his parents Joseph and Ruth Tessler, he was predeceased by his beloved brother Stephen “Billy” Tessler. Mickey is survived by his wife Cristina (Tan) Tessler and his seven children Laurie Tessler Quercioli, Louie Tessler (Sarah), Linda Tessler Henriquez (Carlos), Dr. Joseph Tessler (Kathy Lee), Jonathon Tessler, Julian Tessler (Song Zhu) and Joshua Tessler and his nine grandchildren Aaron, Ben and Charlie Henriquez, Zane and Jake Tessler, Sierra and Cole Quercioli, Madeline and Noah Tessler and his beloved sister Marsha Tessler Leoni.
Mickey was born and raised on Miami Beach, Florida along with his siblings Marsha and Billy. Mickey attended Biscayne Elementary, Nautilus Jr. High and Miami Beach Senior High graduating in the class of 59'. He belonged to the swim and track teams in High School, prevailing at the shot put as best on his team and was also on the football team. After high school Mickey attended University of Florida. Before graduating Mick decided to go on a trip to Paris with two of his good friends and wound up staying abroad for 2 years. He had a wonderful adventure there, but it was time to come home and settle down. He worked for his father for a short time and in that same period he married his first wife and had three children Laurie, Louie and Linda. He then started his own shoe business K-Pasa, importing high fashion women's shoes from Spain. Fast forward 20 years Mickey married Cristina Tan and they had four sons: Joseph, Jonathon, Julian, and Joshua. His beloved Cristina has been by his side throughout the years and especially these last few challenging months.
Mickey will be remembered by most as a kind, gentle soul, a wanderlust who traveled the world, a loving person, “content” in life, easy going and often humored by the simple things in life. Mickey had a warm sweet and friendly personality. To know him was to love him. There wasn’t a day in his life he was depressed no matter what the circumstance. He always thought everything would work out and all would be okay. And if anyone was worried, he would like to comfort them by saying’ “I got you covered like the dew covers Dixie". He loved his family with all his heart and felt he was the luckiest man alive with all his blessings.
A Chapel Service will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 11:00 am at Levitt-Weinstein Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert Memorial Chapel, 18840 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, Florida 33180.
