Obituary for Michele Andrea Markowitz
Michele Andrea Markowitz, 45, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2015 at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida.
Prior to returning to the United States, Michele lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for 24 years. During that time she gained fluency in Portuguese and Spanish, attained a doctoral degree in urban anthropology, and started her own business translating academic books and documents from English into Portuguese and Spanish.
In her short lifetime, Michele lived and studied in Israel, spent a year doing research in Buenos Aires, and lived a vibrant life in Rio de Janeiro, filled with friends and activities.
Gregarious and good-humored, Michele was a presence in all of our lives, inspiring others to seek adventures and open new worlds of opportunities and friendships.
Michele is survived by her parents, Elaine and Bernie Markowitz, her brother David and sister-in-law Jennifer, her nephew Cameron and niece Annabelle, and a large and loving family.
A memorial service will be held for Michele on April 12 at 1:30 p.m. at Congregation Beth Shalom, located at 1325 South Belcher Road in Clearwater, Florida.
