Richard Salomon 's Obituary
Richard “Rick” Steven Salomon passed away April 3, 2016 at the home he shared with his mother, Ann Salomon. He was born April 11, 1958 in The Bronx, NY and then raised in Brooklyn. He also lived in Queens and Georgia before moving to Tamarac, FL six years ago. No matter where he lived he always called Brooklyn his home.
Rick always liked to fiddle with things to see how they worked – like the time his Mom walked into the kitchen to find the backs of the dinette chairs on the floor and her 3-year-old son gleefully applying a screwdriver (WHERE DID HE GET THAT???) to the fourth chair. He never accepted that he was too young for something, in fact couldn’t wait to meet the world, arriving two and a half months early and always trying to do things the older kids did (thus Mom’s gray hair). As he grew up, Rick made friends and stuck by them, always there if they needed anything and always ready with a joke and a laugh and a wicked sense of humor.
Rick worked as a printing press operator, later Customer Service Representative in the same field and eventually as a Maintenance Manager for a Baptist mission in Atlanta. No matter where he worked, he made friends and gave it his all. His lifelong love, though, was for music, having done a stint as a roadie for a band in the Village in New York and, lately, having discovered Karaoke.
He leaves behind his son Kyle (who meant the world to him), his mother, Ann, his younger sister Elisabeth Sobel, niece and nephew Jessica and Joshua Sobel, brother-in-law Howard Sobel plus a countless number of cousins (especially Sandy and Butch) and friends, all of whom he loved dearly.
