Dr. Robert "Bobby" Jack Rasken's Obituary
Dr. Robert (Bobby) Jack Rasken passed away on November 16, 2024 at the age of 78. Bobby embodied dignity and charm, lighting up every gathering with his captivating storytelling, humor, and wit. He had a passion for learning and desire to see the world through many different perspectives.
Bobby was born in Paterson, New Jersey on August 25, 1946 to Pauline and Oscar Rasken. He was blessed being a twin to his sister Dianne and a brother to his older sister Linda.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Adria Silberman Rasken. His legacy lived on through their three children, Adam (Lauren), Andrew (Jackie), and Valerie (Tod), and his seven grandchildren, Sienna and Ivy Rasken, Gavin and Cameron Rasken, and Jillian, Jack, and Cole Roy.
Bobby grew up in Albany, New York attending the Albany Academy. He graduated from Cornell University and Upstate Medical School in Syracuse, New York. He earned his reputation as a distinguished cardiologist practicing at Mt. Sinai Hospital and Aventura Hospital in Miami, Fl before starting Aventura Heart Center. He was regarded as a compassionate practitioner who always had time for his patients no matter the day or time. Known for his incredibly warm bedside manner and supportive demeanor, Dr. Rasken kept his patients and families at ease through the most difficult of times.
His final days were spent living out his dream of traveling through Asia once retired. He had a trip of a lifetime before passing away. Bobby lived a life full of meaning and care until the very end. He will always be remembered by his truly happy go lucky spirit and carefree being.
Donations can be made in his honor to the new CI Foundation’s Dr. Rasken Scholarship Fund in honor of EAT SMART, a program with a mission to fight against childhood hunger and obesity through health and wellness educational programming while additionally advancing the culinary arts and hospitality community of our future. Dr. Rasken’s Scholarship will help with assistance of CI Foundation's annual gifts to advance the Miami Beach Senior High culinary arts & students future goals.
