He attended Trenton public schools and graduated from Trenton High School in 1936. Whitehead in the 5th Army Air Corps in New Guinea and South Pacific during WW 2, from 1943-45. After the war, in Miami Beach, Dr. Litowitz met, then married his lifelong mate, Donna Mae Balkan, in Trenton, NJ on June 23, 1946. Together, they went to Chicago, Illinois for Dr. Litowitz to attend University of Illinois' Post-Graduate Orthodontic training program, then under chairmanship of Dr Allan G. Brodie. Upon completion, Dr. and Mrs Robert Litowitz settled in Miami Beach, where they started his Orthodontic practice, raised their family, and lived together in a marriage of over 70 years. Dr. Litowitz thoroughly enjoyed every day of his professional career, often singing to his Orthodontic patients gleefully. He was Past President of the East Coast District Dental Society, and Past President of the Florida Orthodontic Association (1959-60). Dr. Litowitz also became a real estate developer, and he enjoyed the opportunity to contribute to the growth of Miami, working with his son, Budd. Dr. Litowitz highly valued his family and friends. He had a most inquiring mind, asked good questions, and most patiently listened to others. He will be sorely missed by many.
