Shaun was a great guy. I knew him back in the late 1980s where we were residents at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. Shaun was instrumental (no pun intended) on getting a band together for the end of the year blow-out parties. We used to hold them at the Waters Club in San Pedro. We did it several years in a row, and we would practice late at night in the hospital cafeteria. Shaun was our energetic lead guitarist and I played my Rickenbacker bass. It was one of my funnest bands I played in over the decades. Shaun was just a hell of a lot of fun to be in a band with! Very talented, very creative, and non-stop energy. I’m pretty sure he was also responsible for the band’s name: The Sphincter Tones. Here’s to my buddy, my guitarist, and my friend, Shaun Samuels of the Sphincter Tones.
