My fondess memories of Tonya were the hours we spent on the phone. Talking about everything from Wheatens/dogs to football. She was famous for her tailgate parties in Detroit!!! I was so thrilled when she retired and moved to be with her true love in Florida. My heart breaks and will miss her forever. Have a beautiful transition and give all the dogs lots of ❤️

I was a student of Tonya back in Vassar. I always liked her. She was my Refreshers Math teacher my freshman year. Good teacher & good young lady.
Tonya, you were my first-born baby, what a joy, u filled my days having you. I will always love you. You are in my heart forever, please rest till I see your beautiful face again
I will miss your calls, texts, and always being so thoughtful in everything you did for others. My heart is broken but I am strong like you always said. Love you forever, love mom
I met Tonya once when she visited Michigan with my good friend Mitch Olin. I spoke with her and Mitch together on the phone several times. They were as happy a couple could ever be. Mitch always talked warmly of Tonya, how deeply he loved her, and how she completed him. Life is beautiful and brutal all at the same time. My heart goes out to Mitch and all of Tonya’s family.
My heartfelt condolences to all of Tonya’s family. The news was a shock, and I’m so sorry it has been so long since I last got together with both Tonya and Mitch.
When I think of Tonya, the first thing that always comes to mind is her big smile and her laugh. I know she had her serious moments, but my memories all involve lots of laughter.
One time in the late 80’s, I recall I was with Troy in his black van, with Tonya, maybe Terrence, probably some alcohol (just kidding…100% there was alcohol 😆), and doing donuts in the muddy lawn. We were having a blast and I swear I hear Tonya laughing right now just thinking about it!
Tonya, thank you for providing such a bright light in so many people’s lives. You will be missed. 🙏🏼💔
